No kidding the brand new m1 max MacBook Pro 16 is legitimately my favorite laptop ever made. Its easily supplanted the MacBook Air as my favorite and to be honest I’m pretty surprised by that fact.

I'm waiting for my 16" M1 Max. It should be arriving next week. In the meantime, I've been watching a few review videos on Youtube. Gotta say, I'm sick of Youtube nerds telling me "you should buy Y instead of X because you probably don't need all that power." How the hell do you know? I will always buy THE MOST powerful model I can afford. Who knows what you're going to need down the road in a few years?

notch. curved bottom edges. no aluminum surrounding the keyboard… almost perfect.
I'll probably get one on the next gen, but that trackpad seems unnecessarily too big.

the price becomes more affordable when i trade in my MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019). i get a whopping $1,210.00 trade in. $2,289.00 after trade-in received. now if Brandon can get me another $2,000.00 stimulus check i can get the new IPhone 13 max and the new Beats Fit Pro True Wireless Earbuds!! 10:48 the cursor being able to go behind the notch is an intentional design choice, one of the developers said that's how it is on twitter before the MacBooks started shipping. I do think the menu bar items being able to go behind it is a bug though.
If you keep it in clam shell mode mostly, why not get the 14" and have best of both worlds?
if you want the top-of-the-line machine now because you have never had a top-of-the-line machine before then I say buy the top-of-the-line machine. Not every purchase has to be logical or make sense. Just do it because that is what you want rather than what you need. if you have to save up until you have enough money to buy the top-of-the-line machine then do that which is what I am going to do. Think of the following analogy. Does a person really need a V8 engine in their car to be happy? Of course not, a 4 cylinder would be fine. Yet some want the V8 even though they do not need a V8 so I say buy what you want and do not let anyone discourage you from buying what you want.

Basicallly they went back to the design of the 2012 macbook pro…they just threw away the awful keyboard, the useless touch bar and returned to the ports they tried to take away…

Ordered a 14 Inch M1 Max. Same Spec as yours.
Is there an issue with actually using these laptops as a desktop? Basically i'm using a 2015 MBP and it's getting too old. Was hoping for a mac mini M1 Pro/Max, but can't wait until next year for it. Are there any drawbacks to buying the new 14" or 16" and then docking it? I'm wondering about battery, thermals, and if it's best to wait until next year for the new desktop versions.
Great video, but I still have one question for you that no one has addressed yet.
Is the new MacBook timeproof? if going all out on the 16" mac, the $3,500 one, would it hold its power against other computers in 5 years' time? Most normal people don't swap a computer every year, so how about talking about it?
